Aromatherapy is the use of aromatic, botanical essential oils to balance and rejuvenate body, mind and spirit and to alleviate symptoms of illness.
This 105-hour course is organized in 6 modules of 15 hours each and involves the in-depth study of 30 essential oils. Upon completion of this course, 30 case studies and an exam, you can apply for the designation C.A.H.T. (Certified Aromatherapy Health Therapist).
Module 1 — History and introduction to essential oils. Basic carriers such as vegetable oils, creams and lotions. Topical applications. Single oil blending technique based on top, middle and base notes of oils. Study of 10 essential oils
Module 2 — Absorption of oils through skin and lungs, olfaction and blood brain barrier. Safety data and contraindications. Special carrier oils, exfoliants and scrubs. Study of 10 essential oils
Module 3 — Extraction, quality and basic chemistry of oils. Complex and multi-condition blending. Compresses, ointments, vegetable butters and clay. Study of 10 essential oils
Module 4 — Client assessment and case study form. Contraindications to massage and basic safety. Lymphatic massage of the back, and back of legs
Module 5 — Massage for the front of legs, abdomen, arms, and head. Blending for specific conditions such as pain, cellulite, arthritis, digestion, etc.
Module 6 — Practicum for full body treatment. Complex blending review. Case study supervision
Module 7 — Practicum involving real case scenarios. Complete 9 case studies in class with valuable instructor supervision to meet program requirements.
Note: Modules 1, 2 and 3 can be taken as a unit for those who are only interested in the basic knowledge and applications without massage training. All modules required to receive a Diploma in the Holistic Health Practitioner Program (C.N.H.P.), and as basis for separate certification (C.A.H.T.). Exam and designation fees are extra.

Full-time Tuesdays and 2 Thursdays starting September 27, 2012 (9:30am-5:00pm) for 12 classes, plus 2 review days
Part-time starting February 2, 2013 from Saturdays (9:30am-5:00pm) approximately every 2nd Saturday for 14 Saturdays
