The Holistic Health Practitioner Training Program is an 863-hour professional training program in holistic healthcare and energetic studies. Created in 1994, it was the first complementary and alternative healthcare program developed in Canada and continues to be the most comprehensive and inclusive program in the country. With the designation of C.N.H.P. (Certified Natural Health Practitioner), and the possibility to obtain separate certifications in Aromatherapy and Reflexology, graduates of this program have the best opportunities to find exciting work in a constantly growing marketplace.
Complementary and holistic healthcare is preventative, treating the cause and the whole person rather than just the symptom. With large numbers of people partaking in a wide array of holistic treatments, it is indeed an opportune time to study and become gainfully employed in this field.
OBJECTIVES
- To train students with professional skills and provide them with practical and professional experiences in a variety of bodywork/energy work and holistic health care modalities.
- To guide students to combine different modalities into integrated holistic session work.
- To complement and work synergistically with conventional medicine – not to act as a substitute for it.
- To support students in the exploration of the intimate connection between body, mind and spirit in respect to physical health or illness, while examining the psychospiritual influences behind illness.
- To introduce students to the basic requirements in business management, ethics and communication to allow for the development of a successful practice.
- To assist students on their personal and spiritual journey in becoming a professional Holistic Health Practitioner.

WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR?
- For those wanting to pursue a full-time or part-time career in holistic health
- For traditional caregivers who want to pursue a holistic orientation in their work to complement conventional medicine
- For those who want to take the program for personal reasons only so they can take more responsibility for their own health or family’s health
- Exemptions will be given for participants who already have certification in the listed courses, upon receipt of their transcripts or diplomas
FACULTY
See individual courses to see the teacher for that course. On occasion, scheduling for teachers may change. Facilitators for this program were selected based on their level of expertise and experience in their field. Many of them are well known as leaders in their field within the holistic community and some have founded their own educational institutes. Most of them continue to run an active private practice.
PROGRAM START DATES

Full-time 1-year Program: Starting Mon. Sept. 12, 2011. Following year program starts 2nd week of Sept. 2012. The required courses from the Total Self Program (#1, #4, #5 and #6) are included in your full-time schedule.
Part-time 2-year Program: Sat. Feb. 4, 2012 or Tues. Feb. 7, 2012. You may schedule the required courses from the Total Self Program (#1, #4, #5 and #6) at your convenience and get started at any time.
Individual Holistic Studies: Tailored to meet your needs and allow you to study at your own speed. Flexible start dates throughout the year for full-time or part-time studies. Options for daytime and/or evening classes available. Take up to 4 years to complete the program.
