A Message from Gord Riddell
Earlier this year I wrote in my message that I had resolved to simplify my life. Since that message I have sold my house and moved into a condo. No more snow shoveling for me. I will miss my garden though. Moving from a house to a condo has meant considerable downsizing. I viewed this as the ultimate spring cleaning. I was convinced I had thrown out, recycled and given away all that was necessary to live in my condo. In late April, with all my remaining things packed up, I moved in.

As I write this message I am surrounded by a sea of boxes and the full realization that I still have a lot of letting go to do. The lesson from this exercise in simplification is that if you really want change in your life, on any level, physical, emotional, spiritual, you must be open to truly let go. Change will not happen if you are only prepared to let go of a few things but want to hold on to others. The universe loves a vacuum because there is lots of space for it to fill with new things. It is a lot harder to only fill in gaps left by what you let go of, while still holding onto other things.

While I may be referring to all the boxes I need to go through again to find more things to let go of, this can also be a metaphor for our own psyche. We need to be prepared to let go of anything required in order to create the change we envision.

The College is booming along as we move into spring with lots happening. Fall enrollments are rolling in. The full-time Spiritual Psychotherapy starting in September is almost sold out. Don’t wait to register for any courses as you may be delayed a whole year until the next start dates. The Summer Lecture Series begins in June.

I invite you to read my Article entitled, ‘It’s Okay to Fly Solo’, about my experience of travelling on my own and the over-concern people had for me since I was alone. Yet I loved every minute of it.
