Natural Spa Therapist
The spa services industry has grown at a phenomenal rate over the past decade. Currently, there is a growing trend for natural therapies and products which are non-invasive and less expensive than high-end medi-spa treatments.
In this program, you will learn to make your own skin care and spa products from all natural plant based ingredients which can be custom-designed for your Clients needs. As the spa industry becomes more holistic in addressing the body, mind and spirit continuum there is also an increasing demand for spiritual healing and energy work in spas.
Objectives:
- To learn a variety of body treatments and modalities most sought after on spa menus.
- To develop your own natural skin care and spa products which are custom-designed based on your client’s needs.
- To apply the principles of the body, mind and spirit to the spa field.
- To introduce the concept of spa energetics to this field.
Career Opportunities:
A plethora of career opportunities exist in the spa field from working in Clinics, Retreat and Wellness Centres, Health Spas, Beauty Salons, Fitness Centres, Cruise Ships and Destination Resorts.
- Entrepreneurial pursuits in setting up your own private practice, spa clinic or mobile spa.
- Develop you own spa oriented skin care or spa line which can be marketed to spas.
- Find employment as a natural product formulator within a spa.

Schedule:
Core Fundamental Courses:
Courses can be taken throughout the year (part-time evenings and weekends or full-time weekdays). For program schedules, call Linda Kuschnir at 416-484-0454 ext. 23.
Aromatherapy:
The first 3 modules of the Aromatherapy course need to be taken before Spa courses are taken. Aromatherapy starts Sat. Sept. 13, 2008 part-time, Tues. Oct. 28, 2008 full-time or Sept. 2009 part-time.
Spa Courses:
Sat. Oct. 25, 2008 start.
Approximately 1 weekend per month (2 weekends in May) and 1 Thursday evening in May. Saturdays 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sundays 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Thursday 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
Fee:
$6,375 for total program.
$3,010 for Spa courses only.
Financial plans available.
A cost savings of over $500 if this program is done with the Holistic Health Practitioner Program. Fee for both programs is $11,650.
- An Administrative and Materials Fee of $165 applies.
- Cost for massage tables, bodywork/spa supplies and products, teacher manuals, text books and some material fees are additional.
- Students must bring their own sheets and towels for table work.
- Financial plans are available.

- A $300 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of application.

As enrollment is limited, you are encouraged to register now. Applicants will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, and once the program reaches maximum capacity, applicants are placed on a waiting list.

This course was co-created by Sandy Powell and Kathy Ryndak. Sandy Powell is the primary Instructor for the Spa part of this program. Tara Antler is also an Instructor. Joanne Valentine is a Guest Facilitator. On occasion, scheduling for teachers may change.
